Community Thanksgiving Service

“We gather together to ask the Lord’s blessing.”

Bolivar Peninsula gathered together November 20, 2022 to share a Community Thanksgiving Service. Bay Vue Methodist Church hosted this annual event. Pastor Valerie Hudson, Pastor Kay Sims, Brother Daniel Clayton and Brother Dennis Allen graciously presided. Innovative pianist Paulette Layfield’s music was augmented by internationally known drummer Michael Feighan. Joining along were a group of talented musicians. Brent Finch on bass, guitarists Mark Ivey and Kay Reho with singers Janet Ivey and Wanda Jenkins Smith led a packed congregation in heartfelt songs of praise. The Bay Vue Chime Choir consisting of Sandi Covington, Rita Moseley, Reba Hemstad, Marsha Fredenburg, Linda C Elissalde and Sherry Morgan chimed in to add even more glittering notes.

The Ministerial Alliance collects offerings at Thanksgiving and Easter services. Over $600 was given to fund scholarships for community students who are active in local churches. Charming Brelyne Bohannon not only lit altar candles, but assisted ushers with collections.

Following the service, everyone headed to Fellowship Hall for an enjoyable Thanksgiving feast. The delicious pot-luck supper provided a plethora of savory choices from contributing congregations.

Bay Vue volunteers set up, and cleaned up, and made sure that everyone had what they needed. At last came the time for folk to head home and get ready for their own personal gatherings. Filled tummies, smiling faces and appreciative hearts headed outdoors giving thanks with grateful hearts for this COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING SERVICE!
