Do You Believe in Magic?

By Georgia Osten
I want to Believe in Magic always and forever.
PawPaw and I were sitting around here last night, thinking about our Grands. I saw this on FB the other day and couldn’t help but think of all the Elfies and Leons we’ve known. Pierce and The Littles have an elf they call “Leon.” One time, when PawPaw was staying with them, Leon accidentally fell off the mantle. Pierce thought it was probably the end of the world.

He instructed PawPaw how to pick up Leon, “Don’t touch him PawPaw, he’ll lose his powers!” PawPaw carefully scooped up Leon with a strong piece of paper and placed Leon back on the mantle. When Mommy & Daddy returned home, Pierce told them of PawPaw’s heroic efforts, “PawPaw saved Christmas!”

We reached out to Addyson, Michael, & Dax’s Mommy last night to see if Elfie came back this Christmas Season. “Yes, of course, but we’re not sure if the magic is still believed??” We all want to believe in the magic of Christmas and Santa Claus, but how does it all really work? How is it possible?

Another year older and another year wiser – wondering how it’s all possible. Dax, the youngest, is the quieter, more reserved one. He’s also an investigator, come to find out. When Daddy went in to say goodnight to Dax, he scooped him into a big hug and felt something familiar under his pillow. He asked Dax, “Is that your tooth under the pillow?” Dax had been working on this loose tooth for a while now, and apparently it came out without anyone else knowing. Dax replied with a sigh, “Yes, but don’t tell Mommy. I just want to see if the Tooth Fairy is real.”

Oh, my goodness! Of course, the Tooth Fairy DID deliver. But Dax rolled his eyes the next morning when he reluctantly admitted to Daddy, “Yes, I got $3.”

They proceeded to discuss the belief and magic that is the Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus and all things unseen but believed. The magic of it all can’t always be understood but knowing it is because of the many people in your life that love and care for you keeps that magic alive!

Do you still believe? I do!
