CBVFD-0Ribbon Cutting Signifies Another Community Development Block Grant Success
Five years after Hurricane Ike delivered a devastating blow to Galveston County, the newly constructed Crystal Beach Central Fire and EMS building stands as a testament to the perseverance of Bolivar Peninsula residents who are still picking up the pieces of their community and rebuilding. In partnership with the Texas General Land Office through Community Development Block Grants, Galveston County has built a $3.2M state-of-the-art facility in Crystal Beach which was built to withstand Category 5 Hurricane winds and flooding. The county owned facility serves both the Crystal Beach Volunteer Fire Department and the Peninsula Emergency Medical Services.
