The Ronald McDonald House Shark Tournament was held this weekend along the Texas coast, and several fishermen set up camp on Bolivar in hopes of hooking the longest shark. Prize money and bragging rights were at stake, with proceeds benefiting to the Ronald McDonald House.
Using stingrays and various cut fish for bait, the anglers used kayaks, inflatables, and even a jet-ski, to carry the baited hooks out to deeper water, approx 300-400 yards from the shoreline. Then, wait for a shark to hit and the fun begins. If a catch is brought to shore, it is photographed with a special tape measure issued by the tournament, and released. Photographs are turned in on Sunday, and the longest shark wins.
The tournament also included a Redfish division, and this was won by Rey Gudino with a 42″ bullred.
