January

January can be a pretty bleak month. It’s about this time, we begin longing for some lovely Spring weather, quite prematurely, I might add. I think we’ll have many more dreary days. Our Mardi Gras parade is right around the corner, and we all know what a drizzly mess that can be. Then, of course, Spring Break is hardly ever bright and shiny. I mean, you’d never know by all the youngsters who come to the beach to party and frolic in their bikinis, shorts and halter tops.

GO_0126On the bright side, I’m really looking forward to the Mardi Gras parade. The Krewe de TuTu will be out in force – two golf carts again this year – Look for us. We’ll try to straighten out all the tangles of beads left over from last year, along with another 2000 we ordered. We’ll have koozies and bagged doggie treats for our 4-legged friends.

Then, on Sunday, the 50th Super Bowl. I can’t wait to curl up with my Super Bowl treats to watch the ads, and halftime with Coldplay and Beyonce. You gotta love Peyton Manning “Nationwide is on your side.” (Guess who I’ll be rooting for?)

Tell you what, I’m just going to leave the heavy jackets, gloves and woolen hats out just in case. We’ll see what psychological effect this will have on the weather. After all, today, right after I finished watering all the outside plants, it began to rain. You never know.

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you.
