This past week was an education to say the least. Monday, I took off for Lufkin to sign away our forever home. Of course, I left home at 7am in the middle of morning traffic, only to remember I did not have a sticker on my rent car to use the beltway. So, I’m brave, I decided to go 610. Hello real world! For future travels, I will make it a point to arrange to get a temporary sticker.
The traffic never slacked, and the worst part was the I-45 to 610 turn. But what I cannot believe is that it only took an extra 15 minutes to Alvin. It might have been my speed after I left the Conroe area. But we won’t go there!
In the past month I have learned to sign my life away all by myself. Normally RR is right beside me, he would sign first, and I just followed. Not this time and I hope I don’t need to do this again. To top it off, there is the insurance for a new home. Oh, good grief! I know for a fact that it’s not difficult to call and cancel a policy. Setting up a new policy, on the other hand, took over an hour. Take my word for it, have all your new homeowners’ papers in front of you or you will be digging forever. You will need certificates you didn’t know were certificates and you will need inspection papers with their certificate’s numbers and so on. Moving back to the coast, I was truly surprised that the price of windstorm in Alvin is more than flood.
The good thing about last week was having lunch with two of the most wonderful women I have ever met. We had lunch at our favorite tea house in Nacogdoches. Of course, it added an extra 45 minutes to my drive home, but it was worth it. I should think about these details before I suggest a place to eat.
Got home, no one to complain to about the time change so Jude the cat got an ear full.
Have a great week.
