David Buchanan has been using the fishing lull to sharpen his golf skills at the Ranch. As a result, he necessarily spends an inordinate amount of time around head golf pro Mike Mitchell. Mitchell’s troubles on the links have been well chronicled in the Links Report. Unfortunately, all this exposure to Mitchell has affected Buchanan’s putting. A decent putter before having to watch Mitchell play over and over at the Ranch, David now trembles over the 2 footers that used to drop so freely. On the par 3 course Thursday, Buchanan missed short putt after short putt to finish dead last. His putting was reminiscent of this writers lack of skill with the flat stick, and was heartbreaking to watch. As I overcame excessive exposure to Mitchell’s golf woes, so will David Buchanan. Your putting will return. It just takes time.
