Natural and Bright!

By Cindy Clay Srader
When furnishing your beach home and you are not sure what style or colors to use, it is a good idea to choose neutral furniture. Then you can accent the furniture with throw pillows in the colors you like (or in my case on sale) to make the room feel as beachy as you want! The rug in this room is a neutral color that goes with the cushions on the furniture and will not take away from the overall look of the room. In this picture there are many bright colors that will either make you smile or cringe! Layer upon layer upon layer of colors, each from the opposite side of the color wheel make this a happy and bright room. Many of you prefer muted colors but by choosing an accent color you can easily change the whole look of the room! Since a room like this will be a bit much for most of you, by taking away one color at a time you may then find a look for the room that makes you smile. Once you decide what color scheme you want, painting an accent wall with one of the coordinating colors will finish the room! Always remember this is your house and you are the only one that the room needs to please!

BEACHSIDE DIY

This weeks DIY is actually a table that I created to sit beside my couch. If you are familiar with Hobby Lobby or Ross, this is a wire planter that I found at Ross. I already had an extra piece of 30 inch round glass and it was a perfect fit. I filled the bottom with seashells and a large starfish to bring some interest to the table! Just remember when you are shopping and you find something interesting, ask yourself what else you could use it for. A can of spray paint also works wonders on almost anything. Remember to think out of the box and you will have a special piece that no one else has!

Keep that smile on your face and bring some sunshine to the rest of the world!

What is “BEACH CHIC”? A design style comprised of a combination of clean lines and organic finishes that work together to create a relaxing and inviting atmosphere. The color scheme is inspired by the beach and the natural environment of sun, sea and sand!
