O’Brien Bomb Wins Playoff: Milby Wins Skins

Shannon O’Brien had already watched Ray Pietranale, Bobby Stringer, and George Flores miss the 35 footer on the fourth playoff hole before he lined up to putt. He sent it flying toward the hole and Dewey Jones, King “Sandy” Wong, Dabney Harrison, and Mike Mitchell watched in shocked disbelief as the Herculean length putt found the bottom of the cup. Great putt, but had it not been for the outstanding putting of Ray Pietranale, there wouldn’t have been a playoff, as Ray made putt after putt to keep his team alive. The two playoff teams each shot 2 under par from the White tees, the record highest winning score for a four person scramble at the Ranch. Freshly shorn John Milby shot four over to take the Tuesday Par 3 contest from the yellow tees. Milby picked up a skin on #1 with a Par, joining Dabney Harrison in the skin winnings. Harrison, who had 5 pars and four double bogies on his card, won a skin with a par on the 8th hole. O’Brien shot 32, VanZandt 34, Comeaux 33. Don’t forget the Golf Course Benefit Tournament August 16 and 17.
