Pack the Sweet Potatoes

By Georgia Osten
Ah, Thanksgiving! A time for family and friends to come together…and cook, and watch football, and eat too much, and wait awhile and eat a lot of dessert, and then later, eat some leftovers. Next day, start all over again. This year, we decided to visit far away family, what a treat! So concerned with my sweet potatoes and not sure if they sold Sugary Sams in North Carolina, I brought a can just to be sure I would have my favorite recipe. It’s on the back of the can. Into the suitcase it goes with all my clothes and stuff. Roaming around the house the night before my trip, thinking about Thanksgiving dinner, I remembered to grab an extra bag of pecans and threw them in the suitcase. Oh, what about my new nut chopper? Might as well throw that in too. Then, what about my favorite recipe binder? Well, not the whole thing, just a few good ones, take them out of the binder and include them in the suitcase. Needless to say, we’ll have more room in the suitcase on the way home.

After my arrival, emptying my suitcase and marching into the kitchen with my pecans and can of sweet potatoes, my daughter informs me “we do have all that stuff in North Carolina.” Of course they’re pronounced a little differently, here they call them “Pee-cans!” Guess what though? I’ll bet they don’t taste near as good as the ones we grow in Texas Ya’ll!

  1. Definitely believe that which you said. Your favorite justification seemed to be on the web the simplest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I certainly get irked while people think about worries that they plainly don’t know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top and defined out the whole thing without having side effect , people can take a signal. Will likely be back to get more. Thanks
