Ukulele Lady and the Fourth of July

Family and friends gathered at the home of Ellen Kennedy and Robert Fridge for a gala celebration of The Fourth. Guests enjoyed succulent barbecue, hot dogs with homemade buns, potato salad, corn on the cob and devilishly delicious desserts. Then the gathering was treated to musical delights. Ellen, who plays the trumpet and guitar, added the ukulele to her talents. She begin with songs that many knew, and all sang along with her fine strumming. Then Robert added his guitar skills to the mix while Dan Elissade joined in on his mandolin.

Not to be outdone by this effort, Doug Wind brought a wash tub bass that he had constructed. Doug enlivened the music with his upbeat beat. Bootsie Faggard showed off his abilities on this super homemade musical product.

Of course, what would the Fourth of July be without fireworks? The group stopped the music to go out on deck. Thanks to the contributions of several beach residents, splendid displays lit up the night sky. It was a fine finale to an outstanding evening.

All in attendance agreed that this was indeed ” a capital fourth.” Everyone hopes that Ellen and Robert will entertain many more musical moments in their home.
