Paul Williams Ends Drought as Comeaux Falters

By Mike VanZandt
Paul Williams, local Casa Mare’ Executive, earned his first skin in months from the Gold Tees in Tuesday’s Par 3 contest with a chip in par on the fourth hole. Michael Comeaux, whose busy work schedule limits his playing time to a mere 27 holes a week, scattered five bogeys and four pars on his way to a season high (for him) 32 and finished out of the money for the first time in recent memory.

Shannon O’Brien tied for first place with Jefferson County hotshot/newbie John Lewis at 3 over par. O’Brien and Lewis each won $5.00 for their efforts, but Lewis had two skin winning birdies to go with his five bogeys and two pars. Globetrotting David Buchanan, with a birdie/skin on the seventh hole, tied Robin Giddens and Mike VanZandt at 33. Texas Monthly Super Lawyer Nathan “Buddy” Reynolds was all alone in seventh place, one shot ahead of Terry Millender and two shots better than Sweet Charlie Brannan and Dabney Harrison. David, whose last name is withheld as a professional courtesy in light of his last place, solo par round of 38, couldn’t match the torrid pace set by his playing companion John Lewis. Skins were worth $27.50 each.
