We’ve had a very interesting week, to say the least

On Wednesday, we joined our Pearland family in Galveston for dinner to gather the family for a long beach weekend. That’s our almost 2 year old grandson, otherwise known as PT, Pierce or #6; and his team mates, Riley and Rosie, a lab and a Westminster winner, German Short-Haired “whatever.” We didn’t get home until 8 or so that evening, but a bath was in order (just because Grandma wanted to) and a sippy cup of milk and re-introduce our little guy to all the toys that stay at the beach.

The bedroom was ready with black-out curtains (packing blankets) tacked to the walls. That’s okay, it helped him sleep on until at least 8 in the morning. The first morning, with him sleeping so late, I felt like Shirley McClain in Steel Magnolias, all but crawling up into his bed …He finally woke up and we drove down the beach to Dannay’s for donuts – what are Grandparents to do??

Our week was wonderful. Of course, we didn’t get a darned thing done, but it wasn’t a big deal. We all got fed, the dogs got fed, everyone bathed, slept, played and got a lot of beach time.

We miss him a lot, the house was so quiet this morning. Come back PT, the crib is only a snap snap away and those packing blankets can be hammered back into the wall in a heartbeat.

One thing I failed to mention is that Pierce can’t (or won’t) say Grandma – so I changed my name to “Nana,” just for #6. Worked like a charm – I hope the other 5 won’t be confused.
