A Neighborhood Tradition

The annual fish fry, hosted by the Luke Motley family from Center Texas, has become a beloved tradition since its humble beginnings in 1977 as a neighborhood get-together. Every year, on the 4th of July weekend, the event takes place at the end of S. Cove Drive in Crystal Beach. This year, generations of families gathered to enjoy the culinary expertise of (second generation) master chefs Luke and John. Before indulging in the delicious spread of fish, hushpuppies, fries, and pot luck vegetable dishes, everyone joined together for the pledge of allegiance and a heartfelt prayer.

No fish fry is complete without mouthwatering desserts, including a red-white-blue vanilla cake, capturing the patriotic spirit of the occasion. Once everyone’s appetites had been satisfied, the festivities continued with karaoke, filling the air with laughter and joy.

The annual fish fry is a cherished event, bringing family and friends together to celebrate tradition, good food, and the spirit of togetherness.
