Asheville

The town of Asheville is rolling hills and steep upgrades, sure would hate to try to drive this beautiful town in winter. Many sections of the town have Victorian homes that are being repaired to return them to their glory. Most of the downtown streets are very narrow and crowded. The atmosphere of downtown Asheville equals Austin, why be normal? I’ll just leave it there.

I am beginning to think the flower for North Carolina is the Day Lilly. Everywhere you look, including the center of each interstate, is masses of beautiful day lillies. I’m in heaven, of course. I am trying to take pictures of these beauties from the passenger side of the truck. Never mind, delete, delete.

Stoney Creek Park is where we stayed for two weeks, a small park, ten spaces in total. Six were on a little creek and four spaces faced the top of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Just down the road was an entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway. We were at 2300 feet altitude in the park, the side of the mountain that we traveled to reach the parkway came out at 5700 feet. Needless to say, it made CR 473 look like a flat racetrack. Every 50-100 yards was an S-curve and a switch back, I am not kidding. All the way up the mountain. Man, I wished I still had my MG and that I was 30 years younger, just for a minute.
