A packed house and a lot of beach sitting, swimming, washers, drinking and eating. Oh, did I mention laundry? The Grands get up bright and early with visions of donuts dancing through their heads. Oh what a treat it is to go to Dannay’s. Just the right amount of sugar to pump up their adrenaline and really get them going. At times, we’ve had all six, then sometimes only 4, but the mainstays are the three of them, ages 3, 5 and 8. A normal day is playing out at the beach followed by a trip to the water slide. But lately, our lovely friends have invited us over for a swim in their pool. They have the right combination of grandkids as well and they are a match made in Heaven. At the end of the evening, Mommy lines them up in the bathroom and one by one runs them through the shower, Grandma is on the receiving line with a towel and help with jammies. Dinner is whatever kids eat. You know – tacos, chicken nuggets, mac and cheese. The adults eat a little later, usually something kids don’t typically like.
We’re taking a little break for the next couple of weeks while this bunch goes to visit other family in San Antonio, then returning to spend the rest of their vacation with family in League City and Pearland. Each of these houses has a swimming pool, what else could you ask for? I’ll tell you what else – they have a circus trip planned and an Astros game. Before we all head for a road trip to North Carolina, the whole gang, plus the San Antonio family will grace us with their company back here at the beach. That’s the whole reason we moved here, I can’t imagine them wanting to visit us back in the suburbs where we came from.
Bring on the family, bring on the fun!
