“Blue Thunder” Needs to Be Thrown in the Cut

By Mike VanZandt
The weather has put a chill on golf at the Ranch, with only the hardiest golf nuts venturing out since the first of the year. When the sun has peeked out, head golf pro/course architect Mike Mitchell has been quick to jump on the mowers and the course is in fine shape. Mardis Gras, Crab Fest, Seaside Lumber, Coconuts, Tiki Bar and other tournaments are coming soon.

PGA Pro Brent Smith, wintering at Crystal Beach, is offering half-hour golf lessons for only $25.00. This is a great chance to sharpen those skills before spring with quality professional instruction. Stop by the Ranch to make arrangements.

Mike Mitchell and deadly putting Michael Comeaux shared much of the Sunday Skins game cash last week. Mitchell’s driver, which he calls “Blue Thunder”, for reasons unapparent to anyone who has seen him hit it, continues to disappoint. “Blue Death” might be a more descriptive moniker for the hideous club. Journalistic modesty prevents your golf writer from posting his score in the 18 hole event.

“El Hombre Sin Miedo” Dewey Jones reports that he is doing fine and thanks everyone for their kind thoughts during the aftermath of his close call on Bolivar Roads.
