If you see a bright and shiny new red Mustang convertible cruising down Hwy 87, you can say “there goes Lucky Anne”. Anne Willis is the proud winner of the 2013 Mustang awarded by the Garth House in their annual fundraiser raffle. Anne said, “I got a call from Tim (Byrom) the other night and he said you need to come pick up your red Mustang”. The car was displayed at the Texas Crab Festival last May, and Anne bought a few tickets to help support the excellent work done by The Garth House, Mickey Mehaffy Children’s Advocacy Program.
Anne has won other prizes in the past – a kayak, a large BBQ pit, a handmade quilt – but nothing like a car. In addition, this is the second year in a row that a vehicle raffled by the Garth House has been won by a Crystal Beach resident. Last year, Luz Gray won a new yellow Jeep. The winning tickets for both of these vehicles were sold by Tim Byrom, so next time you see him with a raffle book in his hand, buy a ticket!
