So Long Old Friend

Quite some time ago, I purchased a new laptop. My kids were so proud of Mom and I was proud of myself. It took quite some time to figure out, so many new things and of course, my favorite was games. I purchased word and excel for my Apple and proceeded along my happy way of doing things as I always had. Bad idea! You see, I still have this wonderful, antiquated laptop and terrible things are happening.

Many companies and financial intuitions are upgrading their securities at the first of the year. I will tell you how bad it is for me; I cannot pay my water bill online! I must write a check or physically take cash to the company. Really, I ask you who’s stuck in the 1990’s? Well, when I could no longer log into my checking account with my laptop, something had to go. So, I took RR’s laptop out of the drawer. First, you must charge it as it’s been holding up paper for over a year. Remember, I don’t have the password for the cover page, I have over ten pages of passwords but not the right one. Oh well, back to the Apple Store, I go. But first, I tried calling the Apple Genius 1-800-number, a nice man living in Canada and saying it was way too warm up there. He gave up and made me an appointment with the Baybrook Genius people. So, I pack up all this stuff, two laptops, 2 sets of charger cords and of course, my trusty mouse. All this went into RR’s old computer bag that he traveled with, which is way too heavy to drag through the mall at my age. But I did it!

Not too long ago, I started using RR’s new Apple 12, but I dropped it one day and of course it cracked the glass. The only place it cracked was on the lens area, this meant Di could no longer take my wonderful pictures for the family calendar. My first questions were about replacing the glass. Take my word, “do not ask that question!” You will not believe the price, just buy a new phone. I now am the proud owner of a new Apple 15. I got a discount from my provider and a trade-in for my phone. This is like buying a new car! I picked out a lovely pale lime for the color, you cannot tell it is a color. Now the education for an OLD woman: Transfer from old to new! Another story.

Back to what I came to the mall for, the Apple Genius man and I tried everything we could think of to open the cover page. RR could not have been that creative, but maybe he was. We must ask apple permission to “transfer,” and other stuff, just to allow me into my husband’s laptop. I guess this is a good thing or there would be more divorces and killing than normal. It only took an Act of Congress and emails to receive the okay. I have another appointment this week to start the process all over again.

Stay tuned!
