Fishing Report For Oct 7 through Oct 13, 2013

By Ed Snyder/Outdoors
This past week’s angling had its ups and downs for both night-shift and day-shift anglers. The redfish still produced great catches both day and night with some really great night action, with flounder being caught along the bulkheads. Rollover Bay waders fishing the deeper guts and gullies of the channel racked up on the flat-fish. What’s happening is the smaller males are beginning to mass for the spawn run to the Gulf but this won’t start until cold fronts cool the flats. Then they will begin the run, with the larger females right behind them. We’ve had a Spanish Mackerel run on the Gulf side which provided plenty of excitement for the sport anglers with one 6-lber landed. This years croaker run was exceptional, filling the fish fry boxes in those homeward bound coolers.
