David Buchanan’s Stunning Ace Leads to Course Record

After three-putting the first two holes for bogeys, David Buchanan had no reason to suspect that Tuesday would be anything special. Even after he knocked in a 35 foot chip for birdie following a fat tee shot on the third hole, it seemed a pretty normal round. However, after pars on the next two holes, Dave was only one over par and had seemingly turned things around. First to hit off the 6th tee, Buchanan selected a wedge for the 119 yard shot. Buchanan’s ball soared into the air and hit the green about ten feet short of the cup, bounced twice, and as Dave looked away and grabbed his tea, rolled into the cup for his first career hole-in-one and the first hole-in-one in 21 months of Par 3 Tournaments at the Ranch. A justifiably distracted bogey on the seventh hole and a nice par on the tough eighth left David at even par as he approached the last hole. A decent wedge left the grinning Buchanan a few feet off the green. Buchanan calmly stroked the 25 footer into the cup for his second birdie of the day and a share of the course record at one under par. Buchanan’s antics were witnessed by co-course record holder John Milby, Robin Giddens and Mike VanZandt. Congratulations, David. King Abdullah would be proud.
