Captain Bryan’s Fishing Report

Brawner_00This begins the time of year when the fish are in their first big transition and starting to get on the move. Even though we have had record warm temperatures, the fronts have still been hitting regular and keeping the tides still at an extra low winter level. Wading in usual winter areas (we covered in class) can pay off with a trophy trout now. Soon, most of the south shoreline and marsh drain areas of Galveston East Bay will start holding specks and reds and for the kids, whiting and black drum will readily take a shrimp out on the oyster reefs when the wind allows. We have been mainly using artificials lately but live shrimp under a popping cork will be the best bait as the water warms and if the bait camps have shrimp available.

Crystal Beach Charters is still offering premium trips with full time, insured, and correctly licensed fishing guides. Book your fishing adventure now to get the best spring break and spring fishing times.
