“Bunco” Queen Dorothy

By Georgia Osten
Take 48-55 women, put them together in a big open room with wine flowing, M&M Peanuts, jelly beans, pink dice on 12 tables and what do you have? Well, I’ll tell you, you have the biggest Bunco Tournament I’ve ever seen! I think we represented 4 different and diverse Bunco teams from around the Peninsula. And believe it or not, there were some ladies we had never met. The Cultural Foundation hosted this fun and joyous event. Chris and Karen Gatlin let us use Tiki Beach Bar & Grill. The noise level was out of this world. There were gifts and food galore. And did I mention the wine? The sweetest 89 year old, Dorothy, took the cake! She had never played Bunco before and Beginner’s Luck was all over her. It came down to a play off of all the high rollers. The game resulted in a tie, a roll of one die each and Dorothy rolled a 6 to her opponent’s 2! All proceeds went to The Lone Survivor Foundation.

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you.
