Oyster lovers from all over the peninsula turned out on Saturday to enjoy the 47th Annual Port Bolivar VFD Oyster Supper. This is a major fundraiser for the local fire department, and what better way to support a good cause than to dig in to a heaping plate of fried oysters with all the fixin’s. The fire department building was full of hungry folks, and the line kept growing. But running out of vittles was not given a thought. Behind the scenes, volunteer firemen tended a long row of deep fryers to keep a steady flow of freshly cooked oysters into the kitchen. To top off the meal, a huge display of deserts was an attraction that very few could avoid. This year’s event was a whopping success, a big thanks to all who participated.
