A Reeling Success

fish_0The 4th Annual Ladies Casting for Conservation Fishing Tournament was a reeling success on Saturday. As 23 teams checked in on Friday evening at Steve’s Landing Restaurant, they prepared for their departure into Galveston Bay on Saturday morning at 6 am. Fishy team names such as the Saltwater Gypsies, Angler Management, the Reel Baybes of Bolivar, and Fish-N-Chicks, along with many others helped to raise funds for the Galveston Bay Foundation. The weather was hot with a light breeze as the lady anglers netted and then brought in their stringers of fish to Stingaree Marina for the 1 pm weigh-in. The casting ladies and guests enjoyed food and festivities at Stingaree Down Under after the weigh-in while waiting for the winners to be announced around 2:30 . A great time was had by all as they celebrated a fun day and helped support the Galveston Bay Foundation. The teams raised over $30,000 to help preserve, protect, and enhance the natural resources of the Galveston Bay system. Congratulations to all the lady anglers.
