Local golfers hoping to pick up a little Christmas jingle will meet Saturday, December 22 at the inaugural Bolivar Peninsula Par 3 Championship at 9:00 a.m. at the Crystal Beach Community Golf Course, referred to by locals as ‘The Ranch’. Local golf pro Mike Mitchell, not considered a threat to win, hopes to attract 30 players at $40 each for the event, with a Calcutta to be held at the Ranch at 6:30 Friday night at the clubhouse. Go by the course and sign up.
Local golfers expected to participate include the always hot-putting Dewey Jones, Aaron Comeaux and Par 3 course record holder Michael Comeaux, dangerous Dennis Whitmer, and streaky Shannon O’Brien. Gutsy Charlie Brannon and long hitting Jason Pettit will join the talented and not so talented field.
