Congratulations to Catherine Jackson, recipient of Crenshaw’s Teacher of the Year, and GISD’s Secondary Educator Teacher of the Year. This award also includes the nomination for Teacher of the Year for Region IV. Catherine teaches English, and is involved in many activities at the school.
Catherine says, “Being chosen as GISD’s Secondary Teacher of the Year speaks leaps and bounds about Crystal Beach and the Bolivar Peninsula. Great kids, great parents, great community = caring and compassionate educators that are willing to motivate our students to achieve success.”
She states humbly, “Personally, I believe that there is never just one Teacher responsible for a school’s success or a district’s success. It takes an entire team of dedicated individuals working together to reach goals that may seem impossible to achieve, a group of collaborators determined to motivate and build relationships beyond even what they can imagine at that moment with one common focus: our future, the students, school, community, and our entire nation.”“I guess, really, for me, the nomination and honor recognizes how our school merges into one, and it recognizes that at Crenshaw the kids truly are first. One teacher can’t achieve this alone, it takes everyone from PK to 9th grade…teachers, office staff, principal, counselor, librarian, custodians, kitchen…everyone.”
We are very fortunate to have Catherine Jackson teaching our children. Good luck to Catherine, and we hope you make it all the way to National Teacher of the Year.
Congratulation Ms.Catherine Jackson! The kids of Crenshaw are fortunate to have you and all the others who truly go that extra mile.
Thank you! I appreciate the announcement. One clarification though-I teach English. 🙂 Jessie Minter is our Science Educator and Rhea Raymond is our Cultural Art teacher. We all collaborate together on a multitude of projects. 🙂
