Coast Guard honors EMS Personnel

Galveston County ESD 2 EMS was honored by the United States Coast Guard for the successful rescue of 6 individuals from the Intracoastal Waterway. Frank DeMarco, EMS Operations Supervisor said, “This was a great TEAM effort. All of the Medics at Galveston County ESD 2 are top notch. We study hard, and go well above and beyond ANY call of duty that comes are way. Whether it be a general medical call or a water Rescue call or any other possible situation that occurs on or around the Bolivar Peninsula.”

The on duty crew that evening and their role in the rescue was:
Chris Reviere (first rescue boat crew member).
Jean Rivera (second rescue boat crew member )
Christine Davis (responsible for receiving the patients when they were brought to shore and assessing for any and all injuries)
Joey Mather (First rescue boat crew member)
Myself Operations Supervisior / Incident Command

“Along with the on duty EMS staff we had great assistance from [Crystal Beach VFD] Fire Chief Gunner Newberry (second rescue boat crew member), and [Port Bolivar VFD] Assistant Fire Chief Hoss Stirmple who used his personal boat for the first boat rescue team. Due to the high quality training we are required to do and maintain we all performed a flawless rescue that resulted in 6 lives being saved.”
