Have your own answer

“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.”
(I Peter 3:15)

“For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.”
(Galatians 3:26-28)

So many people seem to live their lives not really knowing why. They simply exist, often living lives of quiet desperation, running on the daily treadmill of life until they are old or infirm. If asked on a deathbed, “What is the meaning of life?” or “Why am I here?” they likely could not give a convincing answer.

Some look for happiness by acquiring possessions, or by experiencing pleasure. Others search for happiness by gaining prestige and power. King Solomon in his wisdom said each of these pursuits is vanity.

Real happiness comes from understanding our purpose in existing. So, why are we here?

God made us to glorify Him according to Revelation 4:11. “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”

We are taught in Scripture that God made man in his own image. Can we really grasp the truth of that. This allows man to have a special relationship with God. (Genesis 1:26).

When man is in a right relationship with God there is great benefit for the individual. There can be a clear conscience (Romans 8:1). We can have peace. (Romans 8:6). We can obtain help with weakness. (Romans 8:26). We can have purpose. (Romans 8:28). We can have confidence. (Romans 8:31) And, we can have blessed security. (Romans 8:39).

We can have power and strength (Philippians 4:13). We can experience fulfillment. (Philippians 4:19. We can have freedom. (John 8:32, John 8:36).

Are we hungering and thirsting for any of these nine important truths in our daily life and walk? I challenge each of us to locate, read, study, and seek to understand each of these tenets as we begin to delve into what we really believe and how knowing these truths can change our lives.
