Well, the damage is done. I had my Mexican Fan Palms trimmed this past weekend. Approximately 4 out of 7 are goners. The Core pulled right out of the middle of most – rotten! There’s a little green, but the 4 will probably not make it. Tomorrow, I’ll have the one obviously dead Mexican Fan cut down and stump ground. They will also take the Queen Palm down. All these made it through the last freeze in 2017, but this most recent freeze did a number on them. It’s done a number on my pocket book too.
Yesterday, my husband removed the two Navel Orange Trees and the Lemon Tree. Today, he’ll remove the Peach Tree. I’ve replaced all the Hibiscus and the three Fiddle Leaf Figs on the front deck. The Fig Tree is smiling. It’s about the only thing that made it.
One good thing about the whole mess is that it will be a breeze to mow from now on!
