Normalcy

Georgia's Sand BucketBy Georgia Osten
Finally, a little bit of normalcy has seeped back into our lives. COVID has reared its ugly head again, hospitals are full, people are taking it a little more seriously I think than when it first began Spring Break 2019. There seems to be a new awareness and thought put into the mere suggestion of wearing a mask. Many of us have been vaccinated, but many are still out there without. We were actually urged by the priest at mass yesterday to get our vaccinations – “Out of respect and compassion for our fellow man.” Just recently, some local businesses have shut down due to exposure, I just read about the death of another local due to COVID complications. Vaccinations are free, they’re a dime a dozen, what’s stopping you?

What’s more normal than school starting? I’m so happy for these kids to have the opportunity to get back to school, hoping all can catch up and get back into the swing of things. Teachers, school staffers and even parents are deserving a shot of normalcy back into their lives. Sure, there’s going to be homework to deal with, regular meals and regular bedtimes, but look on the bright side, there’s such gratification in following rules and succeeding.

I have 6 out of 8 grands dressed in their new school duds, I’m not sure when The Littles go back? I think it may be Kindergarten for them, maybe one more year of Pre-K, I’m no sure? Here’s Pierce, Addyson, Michael & Dax. The two college kids won’t send me their Back to School pics??

Here’s wishing you all a very Happy First Day of School – from Colorado, Indiana, Friendswood to TelAviv, Israel!
