Utilities

I will preface this short letter by saying that after doing 22 yrs in the armed sevices and 23 more with a Govt contractor my wife and I were overjoyed to come back home to Texas and develop our two adjacent lots in Crystal Beach (quite a sentence but am not a very good writer)! Imagine our surprise when we learned that to run water to our property it would be $2010.00 and that the min monthly water rate is $47.00. I have tried and tried to justify this egregious greedy price to run the water line under the street to my property but it just doesn’t compute; so we will come down from time to time and stay a few days in an existing RV park but the community would more likely benefit from property owners like us who could actually afford to develop our own nice RV spots and spend some quality time with family and friends like we had dreamed.

Thanks and hope to meet some Crystal Beach fellow water lovers one of these days.

For those of us who went many months after Ike without water on the beach, I think I can say that the cost proposed to you is a real deal. The water utility worked fearlessly for over 12 hours everyday to restore service subdivision by subdivision and house by house. We feel grateful to have this wonderful service and invite you to be a part of it. I bet you will find you get more than you pay for!

My wife and I just moved here and we love it.I see your issue with the watter and obtaining it by boreing under road.I actualy was up against the same thing once in bowlegs,ok a one horse oilfeild ghost town.I encountered same cost? I ended up reworking the old watter well and pump and still costed me about the same and wish I would have had them bore under road because i never got good watter preasure compaired to a city watter line. Good luck.

    Let’s see,
Excavate and expose water main on opposite side of street from your property.
Deliver and set up boring machine.
Bore under street and push pipe to your property.
Set up hot tap tool and tap water main.
Connect newly bored line existing water main.
Provide and install water meter and meter box.
Backfill hole and finish to grade.
Return equipment to yard and service.
    $2010.00 sounds like a deal.

Maybe you should try the Obama plan….wait for your neighbor to run water to his house and just run a hose from his spigot….
