Purple gold and green were the colors of the morning at the Bolivar Peninsula Lighthouse Krewe 2016 “It’s all about the Beads” Champagne Brunch. Connie Nobel and her helpers transformed the Down Under into a Mardi Gras extravaganza. The silent auction was a huge success with partygoers bidding against each other for their desired item. And of course the food, including Shrimp and Crab Eggs Benedict, was fabulous.

Bobbey White, President of the Lighthouse Krewe, introduced the Board Members and then she introduced the Royal Court. The 2015 King Ed Riley and the 2015 Queen Fran Skiles passed out the King Cakes supplied by Jeri Hayes.
The Royal Court consisted of Danny and Shelley Butts, Gladys and Matt Pace, and Linda Calvey and Jimmy Dinkins.
The crowd watched as the Royal Court searched for the hidden baby. Matt Pace found the Baby King in his King Cake and he chose Gladys Pace to be his beautiful Queen. King Ed and Queen Fran gave the new King Matt and Queen Gladys specially made wine glasses and their glittering king and queen pin. King Ed and Queen Fran also gifted the court with their Duke and Duchess pin.

The new King and Queen of the 2016 Mardi Gras season will be crowned January 23rd at Coconuts. The Do Dah will start at 6:30 and Hannas Reef Band will play from 7:30 to 11:30. New this year will be a Second Line Umbrella Parade. Please join the Lighthouse Mardi Gras Krewe for the 2016 “It’s all about the Beads” Ball.
