So much for community compassion

RE ARTICLE: “Judge: Rollover Pass Seizure Can Proceed”
Galveston County’s plan based on this statistic-challenged eminent domain takeover will be a blow-beyond-belief to the elderly and medically/physically-challenged avid fishermen who use Rollover Pass on literally a 27-7 basis — a situation being totally ignored by Judges Barbara Roberts and Mark Henry, Ken McKay and Commissioners Ryan Dennard, Stephen Holmes and Ken Clark.

Their plan is to build a long pier that will be impossible for the elderly and those with medical & physical challenges to use, no doubt including the many veterans who are receiving much needed therapy at the Lone Survivor Foundation Retreat in Crystal Beach.

Have any of these folks above who voted to close Rollover and build a mile-long jetty ever taken time to visit with those who are actually using this pass, seen what the immediate access means to them?

Right now these folks can drive right up to the pass, park, and in a few steps throw their lines into the water. Never have we driven past this easy-fishing-access that there not been many folks fishing on both sides of 87. This is a historic spot that needs to be preserved, not wiped out by a state and county officials who could care less about these folks.

Even among the healthy, in the middle of the summer, are you going to take away this easy fishing spot for parents to take their children and force them to walk out a long jetty?

Planning to pay for this park by charging folks to pay for parking? A jetty fee?

So much for community compassion.
