Chamber welcomes the “New” Ship’s Wheel

Amidst all the tornadoes and cars getting hit by lightning, downed poles and 24+ hours without electricity, the Bolivar Peninsula Chamber of Commerce celebrated the newly remodeled Ship’s Wheel with a Ribbon Cutting ceremony on Saturday. Crystal Beach welcomed Millie’s Ship’s Wheel! This popular gathering spot was decorated to the hilt and the food was laid out and the drinks were flowing.

Millie Murphy bought this establishment 25 years ago, April 1993. In December they closed down for remodeling, raising the floor, new concrete and a beautiful polished wooden dance floor. They reopened in April of this year, shortly after Mardi Gras. The back room is set up for pool, you can ask my son how popular this place is to him!

Jamie Blackburn, Millie’s niece, is the day manager. Next time you’re in town, stop by to say hi to both of these fine, hard working ladies.
