Beach Party Weekend

Jerry Diaz’s 8th Annual Full Moon Party on the Beach was another huge crowd pleaser on Friday night. Held at the end of June each year, the guests arrived early to set up chairs and begin celebrating. It was dubbed the Half Moon Party this year for obvious reasons, but the crowd still numbered in the hundreds for the classic beach party. Beginning at 6pm, Bert Hebert played all “tequila” songs, including songs with the word tequila in it, or something with tequila in it like margaritas. Bert was followed by guitarist Donny Brewer playing his Trop Rock music with Jerry’s band, Hanna’s Reef. The crowd was rockin’ along with Donny’s original songs. Up next was Texas Country Legend Tommy Alverson. Tommy is a songwriter and performer, working with many greats including Willie Nelson. Closing out the night around 9pm, Jerry took the stage under the moonlight.

The party continued on Saturday night with Jason Allen on the same beach stage, as many braved the threatening weather and a peninsula-wide power outage. Jason Allen and his band took the stage to kick off the inaugural Summer Music Festival on the beach. Singing many of his hit songs, Allen had crowds dancing in the sand and partying the night away. Event sponsors are looking forward to a bigger and better beach party next year.

See you next June under the Full Moon.
