December Anniversary

When you have been married as long as we have, you try to enjoy every minute. Maybe I should rephrase that, most of the minutes. These past two weeks, our children have celebrated with us by taking us to dinner. First it was Rene’ and Jason taking us to RR’s favorite place Texas Roadhouse. We each had a beverage then ordered great food. Of course, Rene’ and her father ordered “still mooing” steaks, you know blue rare. Jason had a chicken fried steak and I had my favorite, that is a salad covered in steak and blue cheese. No heart attack there.

We did this on a Saturday night. Now, we do not go anywhere on a weekend, so all this traffic getting past Baybrook was a whole new ball game to us. I held on really tight to the hand grip as we navigated our way in the dark to the Roadhouse. I guess we really don’t see that well in the dark any more. For years, we could have done this blind folded because we only lived a few exits from there. Not anymore.

The week after, Dianne and Chris invited us to spend the night and go to their favorite place for dinner, Kellen’s Steakhouse. I must say, never have I ever had a steak like that! RR and I have traveled from the east coast to the west coast and nothing compares to these steaks. I have heard of melt in your mouth steaks, now I have had one.

Thursday night was our 54th Wedding Anniversary and we traveled down Hwy 146 to Kemah to try Tookies Seafood House. Our dinner was delicious and the server, Rey, was great. In fact, we will ask for him next time we go there. We both decided we would not try to go to Tookies on the week-end, as the place was full on Thursday. Maybe Tuesday or Wednesday. We also enjoyed all the old pictures on the walls of old town Kemah and Seabrook. FYI they have a great elevator.

Of course, this week, our company has had pot luck luncheon on Friday and again Sunday.  Then comes Christmas dinner and New Year’s eve dinner.

Oh well, give up on lettuce till January. I’ll just find that pair of black elastic waist pants for New Years Eve.

Ya’ll stay safe and warm.
