It’s VERY CHIC!

Is Beach casual not your style? Who says you can’t be as formal as you want while still having the relaxing feeling of the beach. This dining room uses the formality of the beautiful custom chandelier along with the upholstered his and her chairs. By combining this with the wicker chairs and the painted table it all works to bring the feeling “up a notch” while still keeping it beachy. Notice the hemp rug that brings the natural feel and comfort of the great outdoors. It is the incongruity of the mixing of the formal with the casual the makes this room feel like home. By adding the seashells to the built-in bookcase and the wonderful mermaid picture on the wall, there is no doubt that you are at the beach. Once again by pulling the colors out of the fabric on the chairs the walls, cabinets and tablecloth add to the overall look. Hum, I think I need to get busy redecorating!

“HOW TO” …

Here comes Peter Cottontail! Easter will be arriving soon and here is a great idea on decorating with seashell inspired eggs. The first step is to dye your eyes in any color that will coordinate with your decorating or the seashells you put on the eggs. One of the best things you can use for shell décor is a napkin that has seashells printed or embossed on it. You can find these at a lot of places or even specialty papers at Hobby Lobby or Michaels. Cut the picture out that you want to use on your egg and brush it with egg whites to adhere. You can use glue or any of the decopage products out there but I would not feel safe letting my grandchildren actually peel and eat them with the other products. As a center piece for Easter you can fill a bowl with the eggs and real seashells. If you would prefer you can put a small hole in the egg and blow out the egg if you just want to use them for decorating. They will be very fragile so be careful when handling. I will be waiting for pictures of your creations. Once again I thank you all for your comments. If you have and questions or comments you can send them to me in the comment section below. Happy Hopping!
