Sheriff Sales Join the Information Age

Galveston County Assessor and Collector of TaxesThe Galveston County Tax Office is pleased to announce that beginning with the April 6, 2021 delinquent tax foreclosure sale, properties offered at the monthly Sheriff sale due to delinquent property taxes will be offered exclusively through an online platform. The Galveston County Commissioners Court, County Tax Office and County Sheriff’s Office and the law firm of Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP have collaborated with Real Auction to provide a state-of-the-art mechanism for selling delinquent tax properties.

Beginning with the April 6, 2021 sale, delinquent tax foreclosures will no longer be auctioned through a live sale. Delinquent tax foreclosure sales for all taxing entities in Galveston County will be conducted through the Real Auction website: www.realauction.com. While the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office will continue to conduct live execution sales (if any are scheduled in a given month), delinquent property tax foreclosure sales will be held exclusively through the Real Auction website platform. Bank and mortgage company foreclosures will not be offered through the Real Auction website and will continue to be conducted live each month at the Courthouse.

In accordance with Texas law, the online tax foreclosure sales will continue to be conducted on the first Tuesday of each month, unless the first Tuesday is a holiday. In that event, the online tax foreclosure sales will be held on the first Wednesday of that month.

Interested parties are encouraged to register on the Real Auction website. Real Auction is providing free bidder training through its website. Visit the site online or call Real Action at (877) 361-7325 or email [email protected].
