The Gray Robes

By Georgia Osten
Sunday, we were honored to meet six seminarians who visited our Holy Family Parish Catholic church here in Crystal Beach. Enjoying a bit of R&R before traveling on to Corpus Christi, Brother Michael and his comrades were staying at a family member’s beach house on Bolivar Peninsula, looking forward to an afternoon of fishing. Michael’s parents have a beach house in Galveston, but came over for 8am Mass at Our Lady by the Sea. After the storm, Michael revealed to his Mother, Grace, that he had decided to live in this life of ministry. Grace tears as she tells me this. “But Michael, you’ll never have children?” He tells his mother, “all children are mine.” Michael has three sisters, Grace and her husband have 14 grandchildren. Michael pulled out a family photo and pointed to the sister who lives here, she comes to our church every Sunday when they’re down for the weekend. God bless you Brother Michael and your Friends in Christ. I share your Mother’s pride in you! http://www.societyofourlady.net/priests-sponsorship.html

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you.
