The Annual Peninsula Sports Park Watermelon Crawl was held on Saturday in support of our young ball players. The fun began at Jose’s where contestants received their Baby Watermelon and prepared for the games with breakfast. They headed to Tiki for the first challenge, followed by Nauti’s, Eagles, and ending up at Stingaree. Each challenge could award the team multiple watermelon seeds if they also kept their baby watermelon “alive”. Gift baskets and additional Bonuses added to the excitement throughout the day.
The final location held many raffle items and live auction items as well. Trophies were awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners for Best Decorated Golf Cart, Best Decorated Jeep, and Best Costume, plus a People’s Choice Award! Joel Hernandez collected the most watermelon seeds and is the 2019 Watermelon Crawl Champion, and the Runner up is Becky Broussard.
All proceeds go to the Peninsula Sports Park to further enhance the athletic opportunities for the children and families of Bolivar Peninsula. Thanks to all the Watermelon Crawlers!
